Welding is the permanent joining of two materials. Its use may often result in the saving of time and money when compared with some other method of manufacturing. Today, welding is used in a wide range of application. Typical applications are found in shipbuilding, the aircraft industry, construction and automobile industry.
Welding Workshop
Procedures
Shape of components were designed and drawn by using Inventor 8. Appropriate size is cut from the 3m long material.Machining for different components, including drilling and the shape forming. The components were taken to the welding workshop. Electrical welding is used for the main frame and battery holder. Gas welding was used for the 1mm thickness sheet metal and the upper holder.
Problems and Solutions
Large Space between Components
The space between two metal components is large. Normally, It is more than 3 to 4 mm. It is not propitiate to weld from one end to other end directly, because some defects may form and the metal may burn through. To prevent this situation, the welding components should be avoided having a large space between two components. If the design state has already passed, the two metals should be first welded in some points in the line of jointing and then we should start to weld between each two points.
Gas Welding
During gas welding, the melted copper is not easy to control to move into the gap between two metals. To fill in the gap between two metals, the two metals should be heat up until red first, and then the copper would move between two metals.Shaking hands make the job more difficult. The hand should move steadily and slowly so that the metal could penetrate the gap completely. The shake hand makes the appearance bad because the electrical rod may touch the components other than the welding zone.
